NEW SURROUNDINGS
We decided to spend our winter in Edmonton this year. Why you ask? Well, it's not because I'm particularly fond of the cold or the snow. However, the opportunity presented itself and we said, let's do it! After spending almost 5 years in the pine trees of New Hampshire, Edmonton is chock full of equally as many people as the trees back home and there are actual buildings neatly clustered together in groups to make a girl's fantasy shopping trip quite easy to achieve. An overwhelming but welcome change. So this winter my creating will not be done in a tiny little house near a tiny little stream in a tiny little town in New Hampshire. I hope to be set up and creating goodies very soon so keep your eye on the blog for new creations. New surroundings are inspiring new ideas. Keep checking back, you might be surprised!

I know everybody is complaining about the rising cost of produce lately. I wanted to show what $18 in Edmonton will buy at the local produce store. Those boxes are organic herb salad mixes for $1 each. I know that at the grocery stores the prices would be tripled but here's proof that if you shop it, you can find a deal.

We're supposed to take a found object and make a piece of jewelry out of it for our partner. I wanted to try to get my brain working in that direction so i made this little trinket, a charm bracelet for summer. I'll go back to the drawing board and try a few more.

Unusual June Holidays Swap Preview
my partner likes the '50's diner vibe and it being a summer holiday swap, i thought i'd send her a small collection of "get out of the kitchen quick" recipes, nobody should be stuck in the kitchen in the summer.

Moving Away
my little peanut has a girlfriend that is moving away and she is the sweetest thing. i didn't have much notice but i thought quick and put together this little organizer, put in some cards and envelopes, some postcards and a gel pen, i also included a magnetic bookmark, urging her to keep in touch. moving is so hard when you're young, heck, it's hard at any age, but losing friends always stinks. i hope she writes often.

in this swap you were supposed to pick 4 under-celebrated holidays for the month and send your partner things relating to those days. my partner likes hot chocolate and cupcakes with faces so i chose, eat whatever you want day, made her a cupcake bag, i chose love a tree day and made her a zippered pouch filled with goodies including another cupcake, a keychain, i chose sunscreen day and take a note day. i made her some atc cards of pugs and boston terriers which she has. hopes she enjoys it.

obviously the color for my partner was blue. she asked for a chili recipe so i made her booklet of some of my favorite recipes, a sunglass case, a key ring and some bookmarks, i also threw in off her list of things she'd like some paint brushes, blue ribbon and some beads to create with, hope she likes.

I've been playing around with making kidlet toys lately. These guys were hard to get away from my daughter but they went to the orphanage (otherwise known as the retail store) to be adopted.

These are sn*ugly dolls, each has a name and a story included, like squiggles the worm here, born april 27th, 2007 in a tropical rainforest, squiggles likes all kinds of fruit but he loves mangos, my little peanut wanted to help out with squiggles' story, she likes mangoes too.
